The Great War

A film commission by Tameside War Museum following the life of an unknown soldier in the first world war (1914 - 1918), commonly known as "The Great War".

Adrian Barber worked with a local actor to film the story of the soldier, his motivations to join the services, some the kit that he would have worn in the war and his journey to reach the trenches in France.

This project was one of twelve commissions Adrian completed for museums across the North West including Preston Museum, Bury Museum, Bolton Museum, The Whitworth Art Gallery, Burnley Textile Museum and Platt Hall as part of their online learning resources for schools.
